Widow’s Mite from the Time of Christ

 A humble ancient coin with a powerful connection to one of Our Lord’s most beautiful lessons on faith, sacrifice, and generosity.

 Known today as the Widow’s Mite, these tiny, authentic bronze coins circulated in the Holy Land during the time of Christ. They are traditionally associated with the beautiful account recorded in the Gospels of Mark and Luke, when Jesus watched a poor widow place two small coins into the Temple treasury.

 Though her offering was worth very little in the eyes of the world, Our Lord saw something far greater.

 “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury.”

 The widow gave not from her abundance, but from her poverty—offering what little she had with complete trust in God. For generations, her humble gift has remained a powerful Catholic reminder that Our Lord does not measure our offerings by their earthly value, but by the faith, love, sacrifice, and trust with which they are given.
