Vintage Sanmyro Virgin Mary and Christ Child · 7″ · From a Closed Convent

This sweet figure of the Blessed Mother holding the sleeping Christ Child came to us from a now-closed convent. I love the way Baby Jesus nestles against Mary’s cheek, with His little hand resting on her turquoise-blue mantle. Her cream veil and warm red gown make the colors especially lovely.

The figure is made of porcelain bisque, stands 7 inches tall, and retains its Sanmyro maker’s label. It’s in great convent-used condition, with some visible surface wear on the blue mantle. What a tender piece for a home altar or the little table where you keep your rosary.
