VINTAGE OUR LADY OF PEÑAFRANCIA WITH CHILD JESUS – FROM A CLOSED NUNS’ CONVENT

What a beautiful and unusual Marian treasure!

This vintage statue depicts Our Lady of Peñafrancia holding the Child Jesus, one of the most beloved Marian devotions of the Philippines. Our Lady of Peñafrancia is affectionately known to her devotees as “Ina” — Mother and has been honored for centuries as a powerful intercessor, particularly by those seeking Our Lady’s maternal protection and help.

The detail on this piece is absolutely lovely. Our Lady and the Christ Child are surrounded by ornate gold and silver-toned detailing, with Our Lady crowned as Queen and Mother.

What makes this particular statue even more special is its history. She comes to us from a now-closed nuns’ convent, where she was part of the religious life and surroundings of the Sisters. I always find something especially touching about rescuing these sacred pieces when convents and churches close and giving them the opportunity to be loved and displayed in another Catholic home.

She stands approximately 8¾ inches tall and is in great convent-used vintage condition. As with our vintage religious treasures, minor signs of age or use should be considered part of her history and charm.

A beautiful addition to a Marian prayer corner, home altar, or Catholic collection—and a wonderful opportunity to continue the story of a sacred image that once had a home within a convent.
