Vintage Madonna & Child Porcelain Planter — Closed Convent

What a beautiful and unusual Catholic treasure! This vintage porcelain Madonna and Child planter comes from a now-closed nuns’ convent and stands an impressive 11 3/4 inches tall.

Our Blessed Mother is depicted tenderly holding the Christ Child, dressed in soft blue and ivory with lovely hand-painted detailing and a traditional halo. Behind Our Lady is the built-in planter, making this both a devotional statue and a wonderful example of the religious ceramics that were once so commonly found in Catholic homes and religious communities.

I especially love pieces like this because they carry a bit of Catholic history with them. After spending years in a convent, she is now ready to find another Catholic home where she can once again be treasured. ❤️

Visible age-related discoloration/wear along the upper rim of the planter, which I would leave exactly as it is rather than attempting to restore it
