The Annunciation — 1985 Italian Relief Collector Plate • 8¼ Inches

This is one of those treasures I had to talk myself into letting go of! ❤️

Walt and our daughter found this beautiful piece together. Walt wasn’t quite sure what he was looking at, but she immediately said, “The Annunciation! Mom will love it!”

She knows her mother well. 🤣

I’ve never seen anything quite like it, and I wrestled with keeping it. But we have Pediatric Mission needs to meet… so here it is, ready for another Catholic home to love.

The sculpted scene depicts the Archangel Gabriel greeting Our Blessed Mother, with the Holy Spirit above. Architectural details give it wonderful depth.

According to its original Italian label, this 1985 limited-edition collector plate by Alberto Santangela is the third in the Le Porte del Ghiberti series, reproducing the Annunciation scene from Lorenzo Ghiberti’s north doors of the Florence Baptistery. The label describes it as hand-cast and hand-finished in Tuscany in “alabastro avorio,” or ivory alabaster, under the Studio Dante di Volteradici name.

At 8¼ inches across, it would make a lovely addition to a prayer corner or devotional display—a quiet reminder of Our Lady’s beautiful “yes” to God.

Your purchase helps support our family’s Pediatric Mission. Thank you for helping us care for these precious children. ❤️
