St. Maximilian Kolbe — A Saint Who Gave His Life for Another

This deeply moving statue depicts beloved St. Maximilian Kolbe, the Polish Franciscan priest who courageously offered his own life at Auschwitz so that another prisoner—a husband and father—might live.

St. Maximilian is shown wearing his Franciscan habit beneath the striped garment of a concentration-camp prisoner. He holds a book and Rosary, while the prisoner’s badge recalls his suffering and heroic sacrifice.

Hand-painted in Colombia in a plaster/resin composition, this statue stands 8⅝ inches tall and retains its original label. It comes from a now-closed convent, where it was undoubtedly part of the sisters’ prayerful surroundings.
