There is something especially moving about a devotional piece that has spent years within the walls of a religious community. ❤️
This beautiful carved wooden plaque of Our Lady of La Salette comes from a now-closed convent and measures approximately 8½" tall.
The carving depicts Our Lady as she appeared at La Salette, France, in 1846, weeping with her face buried in her hands, with the two young shepherds, Mélanie and Maximin, shown above her. Around the bottom are the beautiful words:
“OUR LADY OF LA SALETTE PRAY FOR US”
The wood has a lovely warm tone, and the detailed carving gives it an old-world devotional feel. There is a hole at the top so it is ready to hang in a prayer corner, bedroom, hallway, or family home altar.
And perhaps what I love most... this isn't simply a religious decoration. It came from a convent, where generations of prayers were offered within those walls. Now that the convent has closed, it is ready to continue its life in another Catholic home.
READY TO HANG!
Our Lady of La Salette, Reconciler of Sinners, pray without ceasing for us who have recourse to thee.
