They were working men tending their nets when Jesus called them. Peter and Andrew were casting a net into the Sea of Galilee, earning their living as fishermen. Then Our Lord invited them to follow Him—and their ordinary working day became the beginning of an extraordinary mission. They left their nets and followed. (Matthew 4:18–20)
This beautifully detailed figurine brings that invitation to mind: Jesus standing in a boat, holding a fishing net, with His other hand extended in welcome. The base bears the words, “Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
There is something deeply comforting about that outstretched hand. Christ called men who still had much to learn, whose courage would sometimes fail, and whose faith would need strengthening. He knew their weaknesses and called them anyway.
He calls us, too—in our homes, our work, and the small opportunities to love someone who needs Him. A prayer with a child, encouragement for a weary friend, an act of mercy done quietly: these can become ways of helping another soul draw closer to Jesus. ❤️
From a now-closed nuns’ convent, this resin figurine stands 6 3/8 inches tall and is in great convent-used condition. Its detailed boat, textured waves, and open fishing net make it a meaningful addition to a prayer corner, desk, or bookshelf.
A thoughtful gift for a fisherman, catechist, godparent, or anyone seeking to answer Our Lord’s call.
Jesus, give us the courage to follow You and the love to lead others closer to Your Heart.
