    Dear family,

     

    One Missed Paycheck. A Sick Child or Parent. An Unexpected Bill. A Job Loss.

    It can happen to anyone.

    It happened to my family when I was in grade school.

    Just one twist of fate, and everything can change.

    Suddenly, you're left wondering how to feed your family.

    Hunger doesn’t discriminate.

    I know this because it happened to me.

    When I was a child, my dad fell severely ill and couldn’t work for a while.

    My family was already struggling to make ends meet, and that illness turned a difficult situation into a desperate one.
    .

    We were scared.

    I don’t talk about it often because it still brings me great anxiety.

    My dad was and is a hardworking man—he juggled three jobs—but even then, we couldn’t keep up.
    .

    I had a childhood full of love, but I lived in fear.

    I was afraid that one day, while I was at school, our mobile home would be hooked up and pulled away..like our family station wagon was.
    .
    I feared not only having no food but no home to come back to.
    .

    More than 47 million people in America face hunger today.

    I made a promise to God as a child: I would dedicate my life to helping families like mine—families on the brink, trying to hold on.

    In 1995, we started small, donating to a few food banks.

    Now, with God’s grace, we’ve grown to deliver up to 100 bags of high-quality groceries each month to food banks across the USA.
    .

    Through our Pediatric Mission, we also distribute 440–465 grocery gift cards every month, ensuring families have the resources they need to put food on their tables while tending to their sick child.

    But we can’t do it alone.

    As the holidays approach, we have even more families in need.

    These are parents who feel the same helplessness my parents felt—and children who share the fears I once had.
    .

    This mission is deeply personal to me.

    The Pediatric Mission and feeding people are my life’s calling, born out of my own experience of hunger and faith.
    .

    Here is a post, from a recipient of what we do,.

    L**** and I were one of the precipitants of This mission. She is right. My parking was 9 per day for 3 months. Then on top of that food cost me approximately 15 per day. That was cheap - I got vouchers for $5.00 per meal. So somedays I did not eat or made meals last for more then one meal. Had to. Parking was $810. Food was $1,300. Then you have normal household bills and I have 3 animals I had to pay to have people come and take care of them. At first I had my dog in the Kennel for 1/2 the time. That was about 500. It is VERY expensive to have a sick child. That was Just ONE hospital stay. We have had numerous ones. Some only a few days, some a week or two. Without their help we would of gone fully under!

    From providing necessary funds to actually having families stay with us...we DO what we say we do!
