September
'09 on Our Family Farm
This was
taken at the beginning of September. These are some of my "corn
children" (just kidding! I couldn't resist!). They had
a blast eating apples from our trees and hiding in the corn
fields. I nearly had a heart attack when I couldn't find them.
LOL. Little boys will be little boys, I guess!
Is it Big
Foot? What has one of our farm's Stealth Cam's caught? Ah, it's
my oldest son! LOL. He was walking up one of the trails and
was caught on film. Smile-you're on candid camera!

There's
nothing like canning your own produce! Plant it, tend to it,
harvest it, can it and eat it! My Grandmother McNamara always
used to open a jar of green beans and add hamburger, onions
and sauce. It's a good way to get the little ones to eat their
veggies.

They are
just puppies, but they are huge! They are a German Shepherd-Siberian
Husky mix. They already keep a watchful eye over the property
and the other animals. My boys are wondering when I'm going
to finish taking this picture so they can put them down!

I didn't know cabbage
could be so fun! I had loaded the table with our cabbage harvest
and was getting them ready for storage. My 22 month old son
decided they were great "balls" and promptly unloaded
the table from his highchair!

My Mom passed
away last October 6th. It still doesn't seem "real"
to me. She left me her favorite "arbor". We wanted
to give it a place of honor. Dad brought it over (he's the one
in the middle) and had my sons help him put it up so we could
see it from the front porch. We made it into a St. Francis Shrine.

Dad and
my oldest son are planting the rose bushes around it. I spray
painted the area to be mulched. I will be ordering a special
memorial plaque in memory of my mother. When I get a chance,
I will also be putting a few
solar angels around the arbor.

Couldn't resist posting
this picture! BTW..ignore the John Deere shirt, I'm a Massey
Ferguson kind of girl (my boys are John Deere guys!)

Can you
identify it? Yep, it's a turkey! She has her baby following
her. They usually have a whole bunch of little turkey's in tow,
but they were probably still hiding in the brush. Did you know
that turkey feathers are super for fly-fishing? We are blessed
to have tons of them on our farm.

The apples are ready!
We have about 1/2 dozen different varieties on the farm. We
are planting a few new orchards in the Spring.

Here's one
of the "girls". We love our dairy goats! This one
is named Lavender and she is a Saanen. My daughter and I milk
the dairy goats twice a day. Not bad now..but..in the winter...brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
