We've
been asked by many, "What do we do to prepare for the days
ahead?"
Well,
the "days ahead" are upon us. In fact, I'd say they are
here. It is my feeling (Note: MY feeling) that we need to act as
quickly as we can. We advise everyone to PRAY about it!
We
will be adding to this page, so please check back. We want to make
it as comprehensive as possible!
Here
are 7 things we highly recommend doing ASAP. Do not be overwhelmed.
It is best to do a little at a time. Suggestion: Check off items
as you complete them:
#1
OBTAIN A FOOD SUPPLY
(All
links are clickable to products)
We recommend
the folks below for long term storage food:
If you
can afford it, we highly recommend: 1
year supply
Supplement
this with canned goods and other things you eat on regular basis.
"Store what you eat, eat what you store". Bottom line,
you do need food storage that will last for an extended period of
time and the above is the best we've found in 10 years.
WATER:
And
remember, we can live only 3 days without WATER!
Even before food, it is important to make sure you have WATER
stored! We recommend that you check out the Water
Storage Page. In addition to ways to store water, it gives you
items that can be used to purify it.
BUG
OUT BAG:
If
you live in an area where you might need to "Bug Out'...you
should have a 72
hour kit. The kit we recommend has
all of the food, water, shelter, warmth, and light you'll need for
the first 72 hours of an emergency evacuation.
#2
MEDICAL NEEDS
(All
links are clickable to products)
N95
Vented Particulate Respirator Face MasksThis
is something every family needs to have on hand. It is NOT a regular
dust mask as it is made for protection against swine flu, bird flu
and other biological pandemics or communicable diseases. We recommend
the ones at The
Ready Store
Basic
First Aid Kit
You must be ready at all times for potential emergencies. The first
aid kit we recommend doesn't cost very much (just over $20) and
is available at The
Ready Store It was specially developed to save time and frustration
in the midst of emergency situations. Supplies are easy to find
in patent pending, clear-pocket pages. It includes educational cards
telling you how to use the specific contents in the kit. Well worth
it!
Radiation
Protection Tablets
In the event of a nuclear accident, radioactive iodine could be
released into the air and absorbed by the thyroid, damaging it and
potentially killing you. When Potassium Iodide is taken, it floods
the thyroid with a stabilized iodine, preventing 99% percent of
the damage caused by radioactive nuclear fallout (think cancer).
A MUST HAVE on hand as you would need to take this right away! Supplies
are limited and The
Ready Store is one of the few that still have it available!
All U.S. supplies vanished after the Chernobyl meltdown for several
months! Defense experts recommend keeping a supply on hand for each
family member.

OBTAIN SEED
Must
be non-GMO, non-hybrid & open pollinated!
Garden
In A CanYou need a renewable
food supply. A premium non-hybrid, non-GMO, open pollinated garden
seed is a must ! There are alot of "garden in a can" websites
out there...and they are not all created equal. Most charge way
too much. This "Garden in a can" is unique and inexpensive
for what you receive. Each seed variety in the can is hermetically
sealed in triple foil Mylar bags and then sealed again inside a
super tough #10 can to give you the longest shelf life possible.
It is produced by one of our nation's top seed companies. These
non-hybrid seeds will give you reliable, fresh vegetables when you
need it the most. Each can comes with 16 individual seed pouches.
We recommend getting it at The
Ready Store
NOTE: These
are not the same type of seeds that you buy at your local garden
store. Unlike most seeds you buy locally, these seeds are non-hybrid,
which means that you can save the seeds each year giving you an
endless supply of fresh, nutritious vegetables. Because of their
unique qualities and packaging, these seeds can be very difficult
to come by. Consider making this small investment today!

#1THE BIBLE. This should go without saying, but I
know many folks who don't own one. If they do own one, it's usually
collecting dust somewhere. Folks, this is the WORD OF GOD! Get it
out and spend some time with the Lord each day...He wants to speak
to you!
#2The Encyclopedia of Country Living by Carla Emery.
Carla was a good friend of mine and passed away just a few years
ago. She left behind the BEST book for us folks still left here
on earth. It was a labor of love while she raised her children.
God rest your soul, Carla! We love you!. AMAZON wrote the following:
For twenty years people have relied on these hundreds of recipes,
instructions, and morsels of invaluable practical advice on all
aspects of growing and preparing food. This definitive classic on
food, gardening, and self-sufficient living is a complete resource
for living off the land with over 800 pages of collected wisdom
from country maven, Carla Emery--how to cultivate a garden, buy
land, bake bread, raise farm animals, make sausage, milk a goat,
grow herbs, churn butter, catch a pig, make soap, work with bees
and more. Encyclopedia of Country Living is so basic, so thorough,
so reliable, it deserves a place in every home--whether in the country,
the city, or somewhere in between
