These are the same as the oil lamps mentioned in the Bible! Remember the Ten Virgins in Matthew 25:1-3?

"At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them.

WHAT DO THEY LOOK LIKE? The size and shape of these ancient oil lamps varied. They were formed from the very earth of the Holy Land!

The main fuel source for ancient oil lamps was olive oil as it was extremely plentiful. Ancient oil lamps normally used a wick made from flax fiber.

Ancient oil lamps were a very common item used in every day life and are an important window into the daily life of those from ancient times giving one a peek at history.

HOW DO WE GET THEM? We have a friend who goes on archaeological digs and we are blessed to have access to such historical pieces through him. We've also recently discovered another wonderful source!
